Press Release

On September 28, the United States provided $10 million in financial support to the East Jerusalem Hospital Network (EJHN) as it continues to support necessary and life-saving treatments to tens of thousands of Palestinians.

The EJHN delivers services for Palestinians that are unavailable in the West Bank and Gaza. With this assistance, USAID ensures continued and uninterrupted advanced health care services to Palestinians, including highly specialized medical services, such as pediatric cardiac surgery, cardiac catheterization, nephrology, ophthalmology, neurosurgery, and cancer treatment.

This assistance builds upon years of USAID investments and support to the Palestinian health sector. USAID invested in introducing critical health services for Palestinians in the West Bank, Gaza, and Jerusalem; construction and renovation of health facilities; providing medical equipment and training to health care providers; and introducing the rotavirus vaccine. USAID provides COVID-19 response assistance in the West Bank and Gaza, including prevention kits, equipment, training, and other related services to support the Palestinians’ fight against the pandemic. USAID was also instrumental in the U.S donation of 500,000 Moderna vaccines via COVAX on August 24 which doubled the number of vaccines administered across the West Bank and Gaza.
