Administrator Green will travel from October 16-19 to Rome, Italy; Vatican City; and Prague, Czech Republic.

In Rome, to highlight World Food Day, Administrator Green will meet with the World Food Program, the International Fund for Agriculture Development, and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.

In Vatican City, Administrator Green will also meet with officials of the Holy See and Catholic aid agencies to discuss the important role the Catholic Church and other faith-based organizations play in development and humanitarian relief, particularly in Northern Iraq.

During his travel to Prague, the Administrator will meet with senior representatives from the Czech Development Agency to strengthen the partnership between the United States and the Czech Republic on development. The Czech Republic is a good example of a county that has moved quickly on a journey of self-reliance, from recipient of aid to fellow donor.

Administrator Green will also meet with civil-society groups for discussions on the journey to self-reliance, the role of independent, non-governmental organizations in emerging democracies, and opportunities to further engage the private sector in development programs.
