Announcing the Public Release of the USAID Self-Reliance Country Roadmaps for Fiscal Year 2021

 
On October 1, 2020, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) released the third iteration of our Journey to Self-Reliance Country Roadmaps, and published additional resources related to the Journey to Self-Reliance on the public portal. The Country Roadmaps serve as USAID's flagship analytical tool for assessing self-reliance in a given country, based on 17 independent, publicly available metrics that capture the concepts of Commitment and Capacity.

USAID produces Country Roadmaps for all low- and middle-income countries as classified by the World Bank. USAID updates the Country Roadmaps on an annual basis, and makes them publicly available here. This tool allows USAID to assess at a high level where a country sits on its Journey to Self-Reliance, and helps the Agency craft our strategies, prioritize our investments, and shape our conversations with partners.

In addition to annual refinements to the Self-Reliance metrics, all Country Roadmaps for Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 now include historical scores for all 17 metrics for the 2013-2019 period, data-coverage permitting. This feature allows users to assess trends in a country's progress towards self-reliance across each metric.

USAID also has updated the web portal to feature the new Journey to Self-Reliance Secondary Metrics Compendium Search Tool, which helps users find additional data relevant to country self-reliance more easily.

Translated versions of the Country Roadmaps for FY 2021 are now available in Arabic, French, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.
