The below is attributable to Spokesperson Rebecca Chalif:‎

On November 10, 2021, Administrator Samantha Power met with Kosovo’s President Vjosa Osmani where they reaffirmed the long standing partnership and bond between the United States and Kosovo. Administrator Power highlighted USAID’s commitment to support Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations and they discussed the importance of building on years of progress on rule of law, anti-corruption, energy diversification and integration with European markets. They also discussed working together to advance women’s empowerment, including addressing gender based violence and the importance of creating economic and employment opportunities for women.

Administrator Power thanked President Osmani for Kosovo’s generous support for Afghan evacuees, and the two discussed how Kosovars’ own history of mass displacement has informed their commitment to stand with Afghans in need today. President Osmani and Administrator Power also discussed clean energy transition in the region, environmental issues, opportunities to partner with diaspora to foster entrepreneurship, and Kosovo’s COVID 19 response.
