U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Samantha Power met with Israel’s Ambassador to the United States Gilad Erdan today to discuss reinvigorating USAID’s partnership with Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation, MASHAV, the resumption of assistance to the Palestinian people, and supporting the humanitarian response in Gaza.

In their discussion, Administrator Power and Ambassador Erdan discussed  humanitarian access issues to Gaza, development assistance to the Palestinain people, the vision for implementing the Middle East Partnership for Peace Act and continued work to reduce intercommunal tension and violence by building people-to-people relationships.

Administrator Power and Ambassador Erdan also discussed opportunities for expanded collaboration between USAID and Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation, MASHAV, under the Agencies’ 2019 Memorandum of Understanding, including to promote climate resilience in the Middle East and similar collaborations in the Northern Triangle.
