Today, Administrator Power participated in a keynote conversation with InterAction CEO Sam Worthington, as part of InterAction’s 2022 Global Forum. She discussed the ongoing global food crisis affecting 193 million people facing acute food insecurity, including the U.S. government’s response and what is needed from the international community to meet this rising emergency. She also emphasized the importance of supporting democratic openings around the world by assisting governments in delivering stability and prosperity for their populations, including responding to the rising hunger crisis.

Administrator Power outlined significant actions the U.S. government, including through the Feed the Future initiative, is taking to respond to the immediate and long-term impacts of higher food, fuel, and fertilizer prices on global food security and nutrition, which have resulted from compounded shocks including Russia’s war against Ukraine. She stressed the urgent need for increased donor funding and emphasized the importance of a holistic approach to address this crisis.
