On June 15, Administrator Power met with Prime Minister of Greenland Múte Bourup Egede to discuss USAID’s support for sustainable and inclusive economic development in Greenland. The partnership between USAID and the Government of Greenland began in 2020 when the U.S. Consulate in Nuuk opened and USAID assigned its first Senior Development Advisor to Greenland. Since then, the Agency has led cooperation on tourism, trade and investment, and the country’s expanded engagement in the global economy.

During the meeting, the Administrator reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to strengthening cultural and economic ties with Greenland and asked about additional opportunities for cooperation. As two Arctic nations, they discussed the shared interest both countries have in sustainable development and Administrator Power applauded the Prime Minister’s prioritization of climate friendly policies.
