On July 25, Deputy Administrator Isobel Coleman met with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Secretary General Helga Schmid. Deputy Administrator Coleman expressed U.S. support for the OSCE’s work across Europe and Eurasia, including the Support Program for Ukraine.

They discussed the OSCE’s work on humanitarian de-mining capacities and the environmental impacts of Russia’s unprovoked war against Ukraine, as well as the need for continued cooperation to stop Russia’s forced deportation of Ukrainian children and detention of Ukrainian civilians, including children. Deputy Administrator Coleman received an update on the Special Monitoring Mission staff that Russia continues to unjustifiably detain and reiterated the United States’ concern and commitment to their immediate release. The Deputy Administrator and Secretary General also discussed OSCE and USAID’s work in Central Asia.
