Today, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Principal Advisor to the Administrator Mark Feierstein met with Special Envoy of the Secretary-General on Libya and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Ján Kubiš about the importance of political progress toward transparent, credible, and secure elections on December 24, 2021. Principal Advisor Feierstein emphasized USAID’s commitment to supporting the elections and broader political transition, and to providing support to the Libyan people to strengthen democratic institutions after the election.

Principal Advisor Feierstein and Special Envoy Kubiš also discussed next steps of the Libyan political process. As affirmed at the Berlin II conference, the United States looks forward to timely and credible national elections in Libya.
