On January 9, USAID Deputy Administrator Isobel Coleman traveled to Geneva, Switzerland. As head of the United States delegation to the International Conference on Climate Resilient Pakistan, she announced that the United States plans to provide $100 million in new and redirected funding for continued support to Pakistan’s recovery efforts from the devastating 2022 floods. The announcement brings the total U.S. commitment to date to more than $200 million, reinforcing America’s dedication to helping the Pakistani people and addressing the climate crisis.

In Geneva, the Deputy Administrator expressed the United States’ support for the newly announced International Partners Support Group, which intends to help facilitate an inclusive, transparent, and well-coordinated execution of the Government of Pakistan’s Resilient Recovery, Rehabilitation, and Reconstruction Framework (4RF).

At the conference, the Deputy Administrator held discussions on the need for further reforms in Pakistan that will strengthen the country’s resilience. She also discussed the importance of an inclusive, transparent, and well-coordinated flood recovery and reconstruction effort. The Deputy Administrator met with the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, who thanked the United States for their support. The Deputy Administrator also met with officials from the United Kingdom, Germany, and multilateral institutions, including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
