Today, Administrator Power spoke with United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths to discuss the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation in Ukraine as a result of Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified further invasion of the country.
Administrator Power reaffirmed the United States’ humanitarian support to meet the needs of Ukrainians and highlighted USAID’s deployment of a Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) to lead the U.S. humanitarian response inside Ukraine. Administrator Power and Under-Secretary-General Griffiths discussed current needs on the ground. Administrator Power also emphasized that the United States would continue to coordinate closely with UN and NGO partners to provide humanitarian assistance and save lives.
