Today, Administrator Power spoke with Polish Deputy Interior Minister Bartosz Grodecki to discuss humanitarian contingency planning in the face of the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Administrator Power outlined ongoing and planned U.S. humanitarian assistance to the people of Ukraine. She reiterated that the U.S. will work closely with European allies and partners who will be on the front lines of any response in the event Ukrainian refugees begin to cross into Poland. 

Administrator Power thanked Deputy Minister Grodecki for Poland’s generosity in preparing to welcome Ukrainian refugees and in hosting U.S. staff facilitating humanitarian assistance to the people of Ukraine. Administrator Power also emphasized USAID’s deep concern for the Ukrainian people in light of President Putin’s aggression and violence against them.
