Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with the Chairman of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s Commission for External Relations Lê Hoài Trung. Administrator Power and Chairman Trung affirmed their commitment to continuing to advance cooperation on shared development challenges, and the importance of the elevation of the U.S.-Vietnam relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2023.
Administrator Power and Chairman Trung discussed USAID’s work to support the people of Vietnam, including expanding access to healthcare services for persons with disabilities, promoting environmental resilience and renewable energy, advancing mutual prosperity through increased trade and investment, and fostering innovation in the technology and education sectors. Administrator Power highlighted USAID’s continued support for efforts to promote and protect human rights in Vietnam, as well as individual cases of concern.
