Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with Simon Coveney, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ireland, to discuss mobilizing commitments to scale up access to the treatment for severe malnutrition in children, including the procurement, distribution, and monitoring of Ready-to-Use-Therapeutic Food (RUTF). Administrator Power commended Minister Coveney for Ireland’s leadership on addressing food security and nutrition, and expressed the U.S. government’s shared commitment to tackling this global challenge.

Administrator Power recently issued a challenge to raise additional funds on top of USAID’s unprecedented $200 million grant to UNICEF to respond to the extraordinary needs in addressing severe malnutrition in children. She provided Minister Coveney updates on how USAID is actively engaging with key donor countries and private philanthropies to rally support so that we can meet the urgent needs of children facing severe malnutrition globally.
