Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with Sir Chris Hohn, Founder of the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), to discuss mobilizing commitments to help meet the urgent needs of children facing life-threatening acute malnutrition, or wasting, globally. Administrator Power expressed her appreciation for Sir Hohn's generous commitment and CIFF's long-running investments – and continued dedication – to combat child wasting. The Administrator relayed the Agency’s commitment to continue partnering together to increase impact and improve our ability to respond to and prevent severe acute child malnutrition now, and in the long-term.

USAID recently announced an unprecedented investment of $200 million to UNICEF to support treatment of wasting in the countries hardest hit by the global crisis. This includes scaling up production, procurement, and delivery of ready-to-use therapeutic foods, one of the most effective tools in helping severely malnourished children.
