On Monday, April 11, 2022, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Samantha Power will travel to Lorman, Mississippi to announce a new partnership between USAID and Alcorn State University, the first Black land-grant institution established in the United States, to promote more inclusive and sustainable social and economic development.
During the trip, Administrator Power and Alcorn President Dr. Felecia M. Nave will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) under USAID’s Minority Serving Institutions Partnerships Initiative. The MOU underscores USAID’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA) in its workforce. Administrator Power will also meet with students and faculty in the university’s agricultural research and climate change prediction programs.
