On behalf of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), I extend my warmest wishes to Muslims in the United States and around the world for a blessed and joyous Ramadan.

During the month of Ramadan, Muslims show devotion to their faith through fasting, prayer, and demonstrating charity to those in need. Like all faiths, Islam plays an important role in the daily lives of individuals and communities around the world.

Since its founding, America has welcomed the contributions of men and women of all faiths, for we share the fundamental values of religious freedom, love of family, and gratitude to our Creator. American Muslims serve our great country every day as doctors, scientists, businessmen, lawyers, public servants, and members of the Armed Forces, to name just a few professions.

In many parts of the world, USAID works with faith-based organizations and community leaders to meet humanitarian and development needs in impoverished areas and conflict zones. Our Agency is proud to work with, and invest in, Muslim communities across the globe and work hand-in-hand on our shared goals, particularly as we face the pandemic of COVID-19.

May this holy month bring peace and comfort to all those who celebrate it and unite all communities of faith to continue to care for one another. Ramadan Kareem.
