On behalf of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), I extend warm wishes of peace to Christian communities observing Good Friday today, and happy Easter to members of Western Churches who will celebrate this Sunday, and Eastern Churches celebrating on May 2.
During this season of reflection, Christians find solace in thoughts of renewal, hope, faith, and love of neighbor. The qualities of grace and compassion have been a long standing theme of USAID’s decades of work saving lives, reducing poverty, strengthening democratic governance, and helping people emerge stronger from humanitarian crises. Our work every day on behalf of the American people is always led by the guiding principle of helping our neighbors in need around the world —with hope that these efforts will bear the fruit of our belief in a free, peaceful, and prosperous planet for future generations.
I extend my gratitude to all of our colleagues who are still serving marginalized groups worldwide, and give thanks to USAID and implementing partner staff who are honoring Good Friday and Easter. May you have a healthy and safe holiday.
