COVID-19: Learn how USAID is responding to the coronavirus.

Today, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Assistant to the Administrator Sarah Charles announced during the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Humanitarian Affairs Segment more than $97 million in additional assistance to respond to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic in Africa, nearly $83 million of which is dedicated to address growing COVID-related food insecurity. This new funding will provide urgently needed food and nutrition assistance, health care, protection services, and psychosocial support for people in seven countries across Africa.

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) through its Agribusiness Development activity established the “Agribusiness Development Fund” and announced a request for concept papers from private domestic agribusinesses to strengthen the value-chain of agricultural products, increasing sales, creating new jobs, and accessing new markets.

Today, on World Refugee Day, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) reaffirms the individual dignity of tens of millions of people forced to flee their countries to escape conflict, persecution, or the impact of natural disasters. These are individuals who feel they have no choice but to leave their homes behind and embark on an unforeseen journey, not knowing when—or if—they will ever be able to return home.
