Media Advisory

On September 21, Administrator Samantha Power will join UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell and Children’s Investment Fund Foundation Founder Sir Chris Hohn, to co-host a high-level event with member states, philanthropies, and civil society focused on combating child malnutrition, on the sidelines of the 77th annual United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) High Level Week in New York City.

During Administrator Power’s address on the global food security crisis in July, the United States committed to a $200 million investment to scale up access to treatment, including Ready-to-Use-Therapeutic Food (RUTF) – the largest commitment that has ever been made to treat severely malnourished children. In her July remarks, Administrator Power also committed to working with co-hosts to raise significant additional financial resources to address child wasting by September. This event will provide an opportunity for the Administrator and other participants to deliver updates on these fundraising efforts.
