On behalf of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), I extend my warmest, joyous wishes to Muslims around the world celebrating Ramadan.

Ramadan is a time to reflect on the principles of commitment, compassion, justice, and service.  These principles also lie at the core of USAID's mission.  Our Agency is proud to partner with Muslim communities across the world to pursue a shared commitment to humanitarian service and the elevation of human dignity.

As the international community faces a growing number of crises, the principles of Ramadan are as important as ever.  The United Nations estimates that conflict has forced over 65 million men, women, and children from their homes.

The United States will continue to stand with these people in their time of need.  That is at the core of our values as Americans.  We call on our partners to join us in providing additional humanitarian support to address these challenges.
