The Gender Equity Program works to close the gender gap in Pakistan by actively supporting women's economic, political, and social development. The program helps women access information, resources, public services and institutions so they become full and active members of society. The program also works to change societal attitudes toward women.
The USAID Sindh Basic Education Program supports the Government of Sindh's goal to increase and sustain student enrollment in primary, middle, and secondary schools in seven target districts of northern Sindh and five selected towns / areas of Karachi.
The project funded the repair and maintenance of units 14 at the Jamshoro Thermal Power Station located near the city of Hyderabad in Sindh. The project aimed to regain the power generation capacity that had been lost over the years due to the aging of the equipment and deferred maintenance at the station.
Through this project, USAID is supporting Government of Pakistan for the repair and rehabilitation of Muzaffargarh Thermal Power Station (MTPS) located in Punjab Province. 500 MW of generation capacity has been restored through rehabilitation efforts, exceeding the original target of 475 MW.
USAID is supporting the Government of Pakistan's Water and Power Development Authority by rehabilitating the Tarbela Hydroelectric Power Station, located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.
Through this project, USAID funds the repairs and maintenance work at the Guddu Power Station in northern Sindh. Upon completion, the project will increase the station's generation capacity by at least 75 megawatts enough power to supply electricity to about 100,000 households.
