The Syrian Arab Republic Government (SARG) continues its military offensive in Rif Damascus Governorate’s Eastern Ghouta region. As of April 6, the SARG had retaken the marjority of the region from armed groups Ahrar al-Sham (AAS) and Faylaq ar-Rahman (FAR). Eastern Ghouta’s Douma town and surrounding areas—controlled by armed group Jaish al-Islam (JAI)—remains the last opposition-held area, international media report.

USAID/Colombia’s Development Credit Authority (DCA) loan portfolio guarantee incentivizes financial institutions to increase access to finance to a broader client base and spur inclusive economic growth.  Micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in rural areas are underserved by the financial sector, and Colombian bank partners have an interest in expanding their presence in rural areas while offering credit and better loan terms to new and existing customers. 

USAID/Colombia’s Community Development and Licit Opportunities (CDLO) activity will strengthen the capacity of rural, conflict-affected communities to effectively partner with the public and private sectors to implement social and economic development activities, especially those that promote illegal crop substitution and alternative development.  CDLO will complement GOC efforts by promoting the active participation of rural citizens in the design, delivery, and monitoring of rural development policies and activities intended to help their communities. Ultimately, CDLO will build trust, foster citizen participation in local affairs, and promote licit and sustainable economies that will allow rural Colombians to live in dignity and peace.

Public Financial Management Strengthening Project (PFMSP) will enhance the transparency and accountability of the public financial management systems of Government of Nepal ministries and agencies.  PFMSP will support the GON’s capacity building priorities, by extensive consultations between USAID, GON and the donor community. The geographic scope will be USAID/Nepal’s 20 focus districts in the West, Mid-West and Far-West regions, as well as the 14 earthquake affected districts.

USAID’s WomenConnect Challenge will identify and accelerate solutions that bridge the digital gender divide and empower women and girls to access and use digital technology to drive positive health, education, and livelihoods outcomes for themselves and their families.

On March 21, the GoN announced that armed actors had released 104 of the 110 schoolgirls abducted from the Government Girls Science and Technical College on February 19, according to international media. The mid-February attack and abduction resulted in at least five deaths, according to some of the released students.

USAID has a longstanding history of consistent support for Nepal’s health priorities and has played a significant role in the success of HIV-related programming in Nepal for nearly 25 years. LINKAGES Nepal is building on this learning and experience, and is designed to support local and global goals to control the epidemic and achieve an AIDS-free generation. The LINKAGES project supports, the Government of Nepal’s Health Sector Plan (2016–2021), and USAID Nepal’s Country Development Cooperation Strategy.

This project focuses on the urgent need for addressing water resources management in western Nepal, a region that is lagging in economic growth, has high prevalence of biodiversity hotspots, and is extremely vulnerable to climate change impacts.

Digital Development for Feed the Future (D2FTF) is a collaboration between the U.S. Global Development Lab (Lab) and the Bureau for Food Security (BFS) at USAID. Launched in September 2015, this three year partnership is aimed at integrating digital tools and approaches into the Feed the Future portfolio.

VectorWorks é um projecto global de prevenção da malária, financiado pela Iniciativa do Presidente para o Combate a Málaria (PMI). O projecto tem como objectivo apoiar os países a alcancarem e a manterem os elevados níveis de cobertura e o uso de redes mosquiteiras tratadas com insecticida (ITNs), bem como facilitar a adopção de intervenções compravadas de gestão alternativa de de vectores, incluindo aquelas que visam locais específicos ou populações.
