All contacts related to the last confirmed EVD case in Liberia graduate from observation. The Government of Guinea (GoG) launches its first stay-at-home campaign in Forécariah Prefecture. Seven of Sierra Leone’s 14 districts have exceeded 42 days with no new confirmed EVD cases. Treatment capacity now surpasses demand as a result of declining EVD cases in Guinea and Sierra Leone.
Proper hygiene promotes good health. The Municipal Services Program (MSP) works in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh provinces to upgrade the drinking water and sanitation systems, improve management and service delivery systems, and create public awareness campaigns on good hygiene habits.
USAID is partnering with the Government of Pakistan to rehabilitate the Mangla hydroelectric power station located in the Mirpur District of Azad Kashmir. The main objective of the project is to add 90 MW to the national grid through the refurbishment and upgradation of the power plant which will improve the reliability and availability of this power plant for the next 2025 years.
The Women's Hostel Project supports the construction of a new women's dormitory at Forman Christian College in Lahore. The new women's hostel provides 384 additional beds, thus permitting the university to accept more women students, especially at the graduate level.

The USAID Strong Hubs for Afghan Hope and Resilience project (SHAHAR) is supporting the Afghan government-led initiative to create well-governed and fiscally-sustainable municipalities that meet the needs of the rapidly growing urban population. The project partners with 20 municipalities, four of which serve as regional economic hubs. The project has full-time, embedded staff in 10 of these municipalities, namely: Kandahar, Lashkar Gah, Shibirghan, Mazar-e-Sharif, Aybak, Pule Khumri, Puli Alam, Ghazni, Chaharikar and Mihterlam. The regions are selected jointly with the Independent Directorate of Local Governance and the Deputy Ministry of Municipalities (DMM).
The USAID Initiative to Strengthen Local Administrations (ISLA) project seeks to improve Afghan provincial governance in the areas of fiscal and development planning, citizen representation, and enhanced public service delivery. Major challenges to be addressed include poor integration of provincial priorities in the national government’s planning and budget, and weak top-down and bottom-up information exchanges.
Stability in Key Areas - North (SIKA-N) promotes stabilization and good governance in some of Afghanistan’s historically unstable and weakly governed provinces.
Led by the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation & Development (MRRD) and the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG), the SIKA-West program is designed to promote stability in key areas of western Afghanistan.
Stability in Key Areas – South (SIKA-S) promoted stabilization and good governance in some of Afghanistan’s most historically unstable and weakly-governed provinces.
