The United States is pleased to announce that the U.S. donation of 302,400 pediatric doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine has arrived in Mongolia. These doses were delivered through COVAX and came directly from the Pfizer manufacturing plant in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

This donation brings the total number of COVID vaccine doses donated by the United States to Mongolia to more than 1.4 million. The United States remains committed to supporting the people of Mongolia as they move forward from this devastating pandemic. These donations through COVAX are part of that effort.

The U.S. government, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), launched the five-year, $12-million Mongolia Energy Governance activity that will provide access to reliable electricity and facilitate sustainable and inclusive economic growth. USAID Mission Director for the Philippines, Pacific Islands and Mongolia Ryan Washburn formally launched the program during his inaugural visit to the country and was joined by U.S. Ambassador to Mongolia Michael Klecheski, Chairman of the Energy Regulatory Commission Tleikhan Almalik, Advisor to the Minister of Energy Tovuudorj Purevjav, and other key stakeholders.

New U.S. Assistance to Strengthen Mongolia’s Capacity to Prepare for Natural Hazards

The U.S. government, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), commenced a new two-year, $600,000 project to strengthen Mongolia’s capacity to prepare for natural hazards. The “Sustainably Strengthening Local Disaster Capacity and Preparedness” project, implemented in partnership with the Mongolian Red Cross Society (MRCS), will help at-risk communities improve their resilience to natural hazards such as droughts, forest fires, and dzuds—harsh winter conditions that can lead to large-scale livestock deaths.

U.S. Government Provides $3 Million to Support Greater Food

The United States, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), signed a $3.0 million (MNT 8.5 billion) expansion of the bilateral agreement with Mongolia’s Ministry of Finance to promote sustainable, private sector-led growth. This latest agreement will expand the availability of domestically produced vegetables through investment in greenhouses, storage facilities and other support services.

Today, the United States—through the United States Agency for International Development—announced $3.7 million (10.5 billion MNT) in additional urgent COVID-19 assistance for Mongolia. This assistance will provide life-saving medicine, testing kits, urgent medical equipment and supplies, oxygen therapy, and personal protective equipment (PPE).

The United States, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), has committed an additional $250,000 (700 million MNT) to support the Government of Mongolia’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The additional funding will enable USAID’s implementing partner, the World Health Organization (WHO), to work with the Mongolian Ministry of Health (MOH) to improve their preparedness and response coordination, multisource surveillance system, and national emergency logistics management vaccine distribution.

Уг нэмэлт санхүүжилтээр АНУ-ын Олон улсын хөгжлийн агентлаг нь хэрэгжүүлэгч түнш Дэлхийн эрүүл мэндийн байгууллага (ДЭМБ) болон Монгол Улсын Эрүүл мэндийн яам (ЭМЯ) -тай хамтран бэлэн байдал, хариу арга хэмжээний уялдаа холбоо, олон эх үүсвэрт тандалтын систем, онцгой байдлын ложистик менежмент, вакцины түгээлтийн ажлыг сайжруулах чиглэлээр хамтран ажиллах болно.

USAID Workshop Fosters Discussion among Members of Mongolia’s Parliament on Increasing Citizen Engagement

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) today organized a discussion with members of Mongolia’s Parliament, or State Great Khural, on ways to increase citizen engagement in the political process. The event is the latest in a series of workshops on legislative transparency taking place under USAID’s Strengthening Women and Youth Engagement in the Electoral and Political Processes in Mongolia (SWYEEPPM) program.
