U.S. donates 128,700 Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines to Maldives

The U.S. donated 128,700 Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines to Maldives as part of the United States’ global efforts to fight the COVID-10 pandemic. These vaccines, delivered through COVAX, will save lives and increase COVID-19 vaccination coverage essential to ending the pandemic.  These vaccines are a gift, provided entirely free to the Maldivian people.

The United States Government, represented by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), is seeking applications from qualified Maldivian Citizens to provide services as USAID Project Management Specialist (Maldives), FSN-10, under a Personal Services Contract, as described in the attached solicitation.

U.S. donates 100,000 Rapid Diagnostic Tests to Maldives for early COVID-19 detection

The United States is donating 100,000 Rapid Diagnostic Tests (RDTs) to Maldives as part of its commitment to help the Maldivian people combat COVID-19. These tests, worth 4.56 million Maldivian rufiyaa ($300,000), were delivered today to the Maldives Ministry of Health through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

United States Mobilizes Critical Supplies to Help Maldives Fight Covid-19 Surge
June 4, 2021

Through a massive mobilization effort, the United States is delivering on its commitment to stand with the people of Maldives and five other South Asian countries as they fight a devastating COVID-19 surge. Today, U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Martin Kelly and USAID Mission Director Reed Aeschliman virtually joined the Maldivian Minister of State for Health His Excellency Dr. Shah Abdullah Mahir and Maldivian Foreign Secretary Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed to welcome a flight to Malé carrying necessary emergency supplies, including pulse oximeters, goggles, gloves, and KN95 masks donated by the American people.
