Essay Topic and Guidelines

Today's youth will enable Macedonia to reach its full potential as a resilient, prosperous, and inclusive democratic society in the coming years. This year, USAID is marking its 25 year anniversary in Macedonia.

What do the next 25 years have in store for country? As the youth of Macedonia, your country’s future is in your hands.

In a 1,000-1,250-word essay, describe your vision for Macedonia’s future and answer the following questions:

  • What do you think Macedonia should like 25 years from now?
  • How will you contribute to making it happen?

This essay contest is only open to citizens of Macedonia currently residing in the Republic of Macedonian between the ages of 14 to 19. Essays may be submitted in English, Macedonian or Albanian. The deadline for submissions is March 19, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. CET.

Essays must be your original work and feature your take on the theme: Macedonia in the Next 25 Years.

Essays must be submitted by filling in the submission form.

The best essays will be subjected to an internal USAID Macedonia panel review. Contest judges will look for originality, composition, and relevance to the theme.

The selected participants will be invited to meet the U.S Ambassador Jess L. Baily at his residence in Skopje, Macedonia.
