The project works to promote access to information by assisting the regional public broadcaster Yntymak and national public broadcaster OTRK to deliver accurate and impartial news.
The program provided targeted assistance to improve the independence, capacity, and integrity of Kyrgyzstan’s judiciary.
USAID’s Women’s Peace Banks are empowering women in the southern Kyrgyz Republic to lead community-based interethnic reconciliation initiatives and promote women’s role in local peace building. The project has two main objectives: (1) to strengthen cooperation and trust between women in communities, recovering from conflict, and (2) to increase role of women in promoting reconciliation initiatives and mitigating conflicts.
The Local Transparency and Cooperation Initiative (LTCI) is a community-based conflict mitigation program improving cooperation and accountability between citizens and local government in the provision of quality public services; and increasing the transparency of and public confidence in the extractive industry.
The program is designed to enhance the capacity, skills, and knowledge of practicing attorneys and the next generation of lawyers in order to improve access to an impartial justice system, build public confidence in the legal system, and promote stability in the Kyrgyz Republic.
