The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is distributing electronic tablets to more than 1,600 schools and district education departments across the country. These tablets will provide teachers at each school participating in USAID’s Okuu Keremet! Project with useful resources and applications to help  them improve the quality of their lessons and testing methodology in the subjects of reading and math.
  
As USAID/Kyrgyz Republic Acting Mission Director Keith Simmons welcomed the delivery of the tablets emphasizing, “Reading and math are the building blocks for lifelong learning and for success in a 21st century economy. That is why we are working with tens of thousands of school teachers at over 1,600 public schools across Kyrgyzstan to help them teach these two subjects more effectively.” 
 
With these tablets teachers can access numerous training materials for their professional development. Okuu Keremet! developed special modules on teaching reading and math which feature short videos of teaching advice and strategies developed by Kyrgyz teachers colleagues throughout the country.
 

The forum creates opportunities for public-private dialogue on important regional and international trade policies and trends.

The Central Asia Trade Forum, the region’s flagship international event for companies and exporters, opened today in Shymkent, Kazakhstan. Over 500 leaders from government, business and civil society from Central and South Asia, Europe, and the United States gathered to explore investment and innovation in horticulture across the region.

At an official ceremony held today in Bishkek, The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) announced a new five-year, $18.5 million investment to support the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic’s efforts to end drug-resistant tuberculosis in the country.

These books comprise 55 different story titles for primary grade students and are written in the Kyrgyz and Russian languages.

The United States Government, through USAID (U.S. Agency for International Development), is giving 385,000 children storybooks to the Ministry of Education and Science (MOES). These books will be delivered to 900 public primary schools across the country. The delivery of books was made official on September 26, 2019, at an event organized by USAID and the MOES.

Approximately 400 soybean farmers will use the machinery to reap larger, higher quality harvests.

The U.S. Government through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) procured and handed over soybean harvesting machinery to the Engels Farm company in Chui Oblast. Approximately 400 soybean farmers will use the machinery to reap larger, higher quality harvests. The farmers will then be able to sell more of their crops at higher prices thanks to the identification of a confirmed buyer.

USAID provided new riding equipment to ensure comfortable and safe tours.

On July 26, Kyrgyz Tourism LLC launched a new horse trekking tour in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The tour runs between two picturesque and popular destinations in Kyrgyzstan: the Suusamyr Valley and Son Kul lake. The tour lasts up to five days and follows expansive and picturesque Kyrgyz pastures  including Oi-Kaiyn, Sary-Kol, Ok-Torkoi.

On July 10, Minister of Health Kosmosbek Cholponbaev and USAID Mission Director Gary Linden cemented collaboration between the United States and the Kyrgyz Republic in combating Tuberculosis (TB), an infectious disease that kills about 500 Kyrgystanis annually. A newly-signed Statement of Partnership between the Kyrgyz Republic and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) commits both sides to meeting national level targets in the fight against TB.

During the 2019 summer holiday season this international charter flight is expected to bring nearly 3,000 tourists.

On June 27, Kyrgyzstan welcomed the first tourists from Uzbekistan to Issyk-Kul Lake on an inaugural flight from Tashkent to Tamchy. During the 2019 summer holiday season this international charter flight is expected to bring nearly 3,000 tourists. The flight marketing is provided thanks to assistance from the U.S. Government through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), as part of its efforts to strengthen tourism and create jobs in Central Asia.

According to this important study, at 6%, the Naryn oblast now has one of the lowest stunting rates in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The implementation of a project called SPRING by USAID between 2014 and 2018 has resulted in a 65% reduction of stunting rates in the Naryn oblast.

A total of 25 awards were given to Kyrgyzstani businesses involved in various economic sectors such as the apparel, construction, and jewelry industries.

The 2018 winners of the Best Exporter of the Kyrgyz Republic were announced on May 6 during a ceremony at the Hyatt Regency in Bishkek. The ceremony was hosted by the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic’s Investment Protection and Promotion Agency and made possible with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
