Trim Basha, a secondary school student from Prizren, was always motivated by hands-on activities at school like programming and design. As a member of the Technicians’ Club, Trim participated in a USAID-supported training that helped him develop these skills while learning how to work collaboratively with his fellow students.

"I had never heard about the Open Street Map (OSM) training, but I was intrigued by the name, and so I applied, “ says Trim.  “The activities helped me learn how to work in a team and solve problems in a creative way. “

Trim also helped his local primary school to create their own school model and assisted a local non-governmental organization “THY” to develop a model for the Youth Center.

"Students like Trim and their commitment and engagement are the real success story," stated Besfor Guri, one of Trim’s OSM trainers. Trim is one of many secondary school students that participated in the USAID’s After School Support for Teens, where students learn how to conduct research, build confidence, and test their critical thinking skills, all necessary for 21st-century employment. In Trim’s case, the training was a path to explore his passion, decide what additional education he needed, and prepare him for an increasingly tech-oriented job market.
