A thank you handshake between Suhaib Khan, USAID representative and one of the recipient farmer. Grant recipient
USAID Agriculture for Growth and Rural Opportunities [Tetra Tech]

Kosovo has a large trade deficit, but exports of high value crops have been growing rapidly thanks to a USAID partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture.  A recent grant to berry producers will expand strawberry and raspberry production and boost employment and exports.  A total of €372,933 issued to the three berry producers will add eight hectares of strawberries, 10 hectares of raspberries, and 3.5 hectares of blueberries to Kosovo’s production.  The producers Laberion and Joni – Sh in Podujevo region, and Mana in Junik, all family-owned businesses, are already exporting in the region and to EU countries.  The grants will help add new lines and improve storage and cooling facilities, thus extending the life of these highly value crops.  The grants co-managed by USAID’s Agriculture for Growth and Rural Opportunities activity and financed by the Ministry of Agriculture are a testament of the Government of Kosovo’s commitment to self-reliance.
