USAID’s Public Pulse V is a five-year activity that designs, implements and executes opinion polls, targeted polls, and focus groups. This information strengthens the accountability and capacity of central and local public institutions for policy-making. Specifically, perceptions of citizens on pertinent issues are highlighted through biannual opinion polls and respective briefs and analysis, enabling Kosovo public institutions to make more informed decisions that are responsive to citizen needs. This Activity is a continuation of earlier Public Pulse activities.

Activities

  • Conduct opinion polls and share polling results that measure citizens' perceptions of institutional stability, democratization, economic stability, security, social cohesion, environment, and other pressing issues that affect the quality of life of citizens.  Public Pulse data serves as a tool to initiate dialogue between Kosovo institutions, citizens, and civil society, and contributes to institutional responsiveness and accountability.
  • Prepare research reports in cooperation with selected local experts that address the most pressing issues faced by Kosovo's society and institutions. These reports use findings from targeted surveys, opinion poll data, in-depth interviews from focus groups, and materials from third-party sources.
  • Provide the Public Pulse opinion polls and findings in the UNDP Data Visualization Platform, which is a user-friendly online interface that allows all interested parties to freely access the Public Pulse data.

Expected Results

  • Trend analysis of opinion poll results over extended periods of time; including 1) political and institutional stability; 2) democratization; 3) economic and social stability; 4) corruption; 5) public and personal security, and 6) environment
  • Promoting increased interest and responsiveness of governmental and public institutions in addressing public perceptions;
  • Public opinion results will be easier for the general public to access via the UNDP data visualization platform; and
  • Five research reports will be completed that provide insight about pressing issues of general interest.
