The project goal is to enhance accountability, efficiency, accessibility, and inclusivity in Kenya’s electoral and democratic processes and improve citizens participation. The project will:
- Strengthen the institutional capacity of key stakeholders and foster collaboration and coordination. Interventions will aim to increase transparency, accountability, and efficiency of processes. Institutions include the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, Office of the Registrar of Political Parties, Political Parties Dispute Tribunal and Political Parties Liaison Committee, the judiciary and parliament.
- Safeguard and enhance the participation and inclusion of women in democratic processes.
- Support civil society organizations-led advocacy platforms which will emphasize compliance with election laws; monitor and deter corruption, violence and vote buying during the 2022 electioneering period.
