The United States Announces Additional $3.5 Million to Support Indonesia’s Vaccination Efforts

Today, the United States Mission in Indonesia announced additional funding of $3.5 million through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to boost Indonesia’s COVID-19 vaccination efforts, bringing the total U.S. Government support for Indonesia’s COVID-19 response to $14.5 million.

On March 24, 2021, the Mission Director of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Ryan Washburn, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, Prof. Mahfud MD, represented by the Deputy of National Unity of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Indonesia, Dr. Janedjri M. Gaffar, and KPK Commissioner, Lili Pintauli Siregar opened the second Indonesia Civil Society Forum (ICSF).  In partnership with Indonesian civil society organizations, the Government of Indonesia and other development partners, the United States Government, through USAID and its civil society support initiative, MADANI, are hosting a two-day Indonesia Civil Society Forum (ICSF) on March 24-25, 2021.

March 10, 2021

Heather Variava, Chargé d’affaires a.i. of the United States Mission to Indonesia offered her congratulations to Indonesia on the successful arrival of 1,113,600 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine on March 8, 2021. This shipment is part of the COVAX Advance Market Commitment (COVAX AMC), a global initiative to support equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines. This is the first shipment of the total of 11,704,800 Indonesia is slated to receive from COVAX AMC.

February 26, 2021

On February 26, 2021 USAID/Indonesia's Office of Acquisition & Assistance awarded a five-year, $32,700,267 Contract Award to Chemonics International, Inc. for an activity entitled "Sustainable Environmental Governance Across Regions - SEGAR".  

February 18, 2021

On February 17, 2021, the United States Government joined officials at the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) to celebrate shared marine conservation and sustainable fisheries achievements attained through the United States Agency for International Development Sustainable Ecosystem Advanced (USAID SEA) project. USAID, through SEA, supported the Government of Indonesia to create 14 new Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) that cover 1.6 million hectares of ocean, contributing to the government’s target of establishing 30 million hectares of MPAs by 2030.
