I'm delighted to be here today for this important ‘Delegation Day - Celebrating Partners’ event. I want to thank CE SAIN and Royal University of Agriculture for hosting this event. Today's event honors delegations from different countries who are here today.  Your presence gives us a great opportunity to learn from each other.

I am delighted to be here with you to launch the “Protect Our Wildlife: Reduce Buying and Eating Bushmeat” campaign. Wildlife is an integral part of Cambodia's national heritage and plays an important role in maintaining ecosystem services that benefit people and the economy. But Cambodia’s natural resources and wildlife are disappearing from forests and protected areas.

It will be up to Reed, with his Ohio-rooted work ethic, his can-do attitude, his long career working in Asian affairs, and his demonstrated ability to handle any challenge that comes his way, to embark upon a new chapter in our relationship with the people of Pakistan, and I am thrilled he’s taking up the charge.

Good morning.

It is my pleasure to be here with you today to participate in the launch of the Labour Market Assessment Report commissioned by the DREAMS Program. Protecting adolescent girls and young women from HIV is at the heart of the U.S. government’s DREAMS program, which supports young women to be Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-free, Mentored and Safe.

The program is implemented in 9 districts by USAID, funded through PEPFAR, and in partnership with the Ministry of Sport, Youth and National Service and other ministries.

Good morning. On behalf of the United States government, I am pleased to be here today as US AID launches an exciting new partnership with Absa Bank Zambia and the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (or, DFC).

It is an honor to launch another partnership with the private sector. With this new partnership, our goal is to spur greater investment in agriculture, promote investment in clean energy for cooking, and support both the manufacturing and tourism industries.

While the Tonle Sap has always been a critical element of Cambodia's food supply, the lake and its surrounding ecosystem are coming under increasing pressure from over-exploitation, habitat degradation, fragmentation, and loss.  Fisheries production has declined significantly in the last decade.

Thank you for joining us this evening to celebrate our collective achievements and launch USAID’s new Morodok Baitang project.  The conservation of natural resources requires joint efforts and commitments.  That is why we celebrate your contributions towards the sustainable management of Cambodia’s natural resources.  It is also why we are so proud of the accomplishments that we have achieved through our partnerships to advance progress.

Proud of the investments USG has made towards climate change and sustainable development. Since 2008, USG invested over $100 million on environment and climate change programs. Through environment programs, USAID leveraged investments of over $50 million for forest management and biodiversity conservation and reduced over 25 million metric tons of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from deforestation and land use change.

I want to be very clear, I did not just receive an award. Let me just get that on the record. The amazing public servants of USAID got the award, and we’ll talk about them in just a second. But first, let me thank Regina. I can definitely find you with that amazing blazer. Your defense of gender and LGBTQ rights here at home and around the world over the years has been nothing short of remarkable. You are a true legend in that space, and I’m so glad you are here at IFES, helping Tony and his team.
