Ambassador Troy Fitrell traveled to Mamou to participate in the launch of the 4th national bed net distribution campaign coupled with World Malaria Day commemorations organized by the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene on May 17th.  The Ambassador promoted the use of bed nets to save lives in Guinea.   Nearly nine million long-acting insecticide-treated bed nets (LLIN) will be distributed during this campaign, reaching every household in the country.  The U.S. Government contributed $10 million to the campaign.

Under the same heading, Ambassador Fitrell visited the Kindia National Midwifery school on May 18, 2022, to participate in the Gold Star award event. The event was held in recognition of the school’s performance in improving the quality of pre-service midwifery and nursing education through a USAID-funded program.  USAID is committed to building strong local capacity for resilience in the health system.
