To help in malaria prevention in the country, the Government of Guinea through the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene, in partnership with USAID and other development partners, launched the fourth national bed net distribution campaign in Conakry following the national launch of the campaign in May.
More than one million long-acting insecticide-treated bed nets (LLIN) will be distributed during this campaign in Conakry, with nearly nine million to be distributed nationwide, reaching every household in the country. The U.S. Government contributed $10 million to the campaign.
Making remarks at the formal launch Wednesday, August 09, 2022, in Conakry, the Deputy Director of the National Malaria Control Program (PNLP), Professor Alioune Camara said "Today marks another historic day as we launch our fourth bed nets mass distribution campaign in Conakry When we started in 2012, 44 percent of Guineans had malaria, which means four people out of ten citizens. Today, two citizens out of ten have malaria, but despite all this progress, we still cannot forget that malaria is one of those diseases that can take our lives. So, I encourage everyone to sleep under the net every day, every night, and all the time".
