USAID/Georgia and the State Audit Office of Georgia (SAO) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding  to collaborate on the institutional strengthening of SAO and performing financial audits of USAID-funded Government-to-Government activities. SAO has vast experience in auditing international projects. Having successfully passed USAID’s vetting procedures, SAO is now recognized as a qualified auditor for USAID-funded projects in the South Caucasus region. 

USAID is a strategic partner of SAO with a long-standing professional cooperation and supports the strengthening of integral public financial management oversight functions.

The Memorandum of Understanding   was signed by Auditor General Irakli Mekvabishvili and the Mission Director of USAID/Georgia Peter Wiebler.
