Unlocking Women's Economic Potential
Access the 2024 Progress Report: Gender Equity and Equality Action Fund Gender equality and women's empowerment have been a long-standing, central part of USAID's development and humanitarian work. We focus on programming worldwide and are committed to uplifting the rights of women and girls around the world.
The Women’s Entrepreneurship and Economic Empowerment (WEEE) Act of 2018 calls on USAID to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in every sector. It underscores the importance of gender equality and of empowering women for more peaceful, safe, equitable, and prosperous societies.
USAID’s Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Hub (GenDev), situated in the Bureau for Inclusive Growth, Partnerships, and Innovation (IPI), leads to ensure Agency compliance with the WEEE Act and provides strategic leadership, cross-sectoral expertise, technical assistance, monitoring and evaluation, and communications support on gender equality and women’s empowerment globally.
