CommCare, a mobile data-collection and decision support platform, has been featured in Tech Change’s video series highlighting key global goods. The video describes how the application builds community health information systems for health workers at the community, district and national levels.

CommCare was created by Dimagi, a Combating Zika Grand Challenge, Saving Lives at Birth Grand Challenge, and Development Innovation Ventures winner. Since receiving their USAID grants, Dimagi has supported hundreds of governments and organizations in rapidly deploying critical digital solutions for various COVID-19 response areas, reaching more than 40,000 frontline workers in 40 countries. Their tools have been selected as the official COVID-19 response platform for several governments, including Ethiopia, Guatemala, Madagascar, Togo, Jamaica, Somalia, Belize, and several others. Dimagi has also partnered with two other leading global goods providers, Medic Mobile and Ona, to align solutions for equitable COVID-19 vaccine delivery.

USAID’s Oxygen Ecosystem program showcased in recent blog

USAID/Kenya’s work to train health workers about appropriate oxygen use is highlighted in a recent USAID blog. After learning of the gaps in awareness regarding diagnosis and administration of oxygen therapy, USAID/Kenya responded by training 538 health workers across 48 health facilities across Kenya. The Oxygen Ecosystem program in Kenya has already decreased the number of patients referred to specialty hospitals for oxygen therapy by one-third. CII is supporting the development of USAID’s strategy for increasing access to oxygen for COVID-19, and recognizes that trainings like these on oxygen use will continue to benefit patients and the health system even beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.

Global Digital Health Network issues call for abstracts

The Global Digital Health Network (GDHN), a USAID and CII co-sponsored event, has released a call for abstracts ahead of the 2022 Global Digital Health Forum (GDHF). GDHF is the leading global industry networking and relationship-building opportunity for donors, researchers, government representatives, technology vendors, and implementing organizations working in low- and middle-income countries to advance public health outcomes to come together and share best practices, discuss emerging innovations, and more. Ahead of this year’s conference, we’re also revisiting our 2021 GDHF keynote, delivered by former Acting Administrator for Global Health, Jennifer Adams.

SAMRIDH selected as finalist for PPP Award

Congrats to USAID/India, a close CII partner, who helped stand up the blended finance fund Sustainable Access to Markets and Resources for Innovative Delivery of Healthcare (SAMRIDH). SAMRIDH was recently recognized as a finalist for the public-private partnerships (P3) Award, which is jointly led by the State Department, University of Virginia, and Concordia. SAMRIDH uses blended financing solutions to support high impact and commercially sustainable enterprises improving healthcare services for vulnerable communities, such as by bolstering emergency health services and accelerating India’s response to COVID-19. Since its creation, SAMRIDH has mobilized 250+ million USD, leveraged more than 10 times the value of grant funding, and scaled more than 29 novel innovations – including for health infrastructure, oxygen supply, and training – which have benefited over 20 million people.
