Today, Administrator Samantha Power began her final day in Colombia with a visit to the U.S. Embassy, where she met with Embassy and USAID staff and expressed appreciation for their commitment to the Colombian people.

The Administrator and the rest of the Presidential delegation then met with President of Colombia Gustavo Francisco Petro Urrego and Vice President Francia Marquez to congratulate them on their historic electoral victory and to advance bilateral discussions on climate, economic cooperation, security, and comprehensive and inclusive peace implementation. Administrator Power highlighted the important progress the United States has supported in Colombia in the areas of climate change, racial and ethnic equity, human rights and rule of law, and inclusive economic growth. The U.S. and Colombian delegates agreed to collaborate closely on these shared priorities as part of continuing an enduring U.S.-Colombia partnership.

The Administrator wrapped up her trip with a press conference for local and international media, where she answered questions on the future of U.S.-Colombia relations and highlighted shared priorities to combat climate change, advance the Peace Accord, and promote racial equity and inclusion.
