Best Practices in Electoral Security: A Guide for Democracy, Human Rights and Governance Programming

The Electoral Security Best Practices Guide is a new companion piece to the USAID Electoral Security Framework, which provides a methodology for profiling and programming against electoral conflict. The new Guide synthesizes information gathered from multiple electoral security assessments conducted since the debut of the Framework in 2010, providing a global overview of best practices in programming to prevent, manage or mediate electoral conflict and violence. The purpose of this Guide is to enable USAID Missions to glean ideas on how to program against their own electoral conflict contexts. Missions can cross-reference the country context in which they are programming and leverage best practices used in similar environments and phases of the electoral cycle.
