Food for Peace FY 2018 Annual Report

In Fiscal Year 2018, global hunger continued to rise, largely due to conflict.  As a result, the world is now facing a third consecutive year of alarmingly high levels of need for emergency food assistance.  According to the Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET), some 80 million people were in need of emergency food assistance.

USAID through its Office of Food for Peace reached 76 million people in 59 countries through emergency relief and long term development food security activities to achieve its overarching objective: to improve and sustain food and nutrition security for vulnerable groups around the world. This Annual Report includes spotlights on key responses in both emergency food assistance -- driven by conflict, natural disasters, and helping refugee populations -- and longer-term food security programs.
