This year USAID and Peace Corps are celebrating 13 years of partnership to support community-level development projects in Georgia. Since 2001, the Small Project Assistance Program (SPA) has benefited more than 44,000 Georgians. This assistance has helped support projects to improve healthy lifestyles, improve education opportunities, and empower youth and women.
Through an InterAgency Agreement between USAID and the Peace Corps, SPA allows Peace Corps volunteers to participate with USAID in development efforts, helping communities to implement small, self-help activities. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Agreement between Peace Corps and USAID.
