While development assistance from USAID and other donor countries has been high for many years within the Southern Africa Development Community, the capacity of many local organizations to receive and manage awards and to successfully meet targets remains low.
This 3 year, $2 million award began in 2013 and is implemented by FHI 360. The project identifies and strengthens local Capacity Building Service Providers and provides urgent capacity development support directly to USAID’s local Implementing Partners. The approach combines a rapid response to acute Implementing Partner capacity gaps with investments in the South African service provider community that will position these organizations to support the further growth of local implementing partners.
1. Build the capacity of local service providers to provide institutional support services to USAID Implementing Partners.
2. Deliver targeted institutional support to partners to strengthen the organizations and enable effective implementation and management of USAID awards for delivery of sustainable development results.
