The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has a long and rich history of transforming development through innovation. As part of the U.S. Global Development Lab, the Center for Digital Development seeks to continue that legacy by supporting the innovative use of digital technologies and data for decisionmaking to help solve development challenges.

With digital technology and data making it possible to accelerate the fight to reduce poverty and increase economic opportunities at home and abroad, USAID, through our programs and activities, works to ensure that everyone, even the poorest has access to a broad range of digital services to meet their livelihood needs.

Across our organization, we are helping to advance the effective use of technology and advanced data analytics in collaboration with our implementing partners. We seek to address persistent gaps in developing countries with respect to digital and mobile access and scale, and barriers that have emerged in this new digital landscape, including privacy concerns and the expanding digital gender divide. We work to not only harness the potential that digital technology and advanced data analytics represent, but also shape the future of development and the broader digital landscape so that everyone benefits.
