USAID Operating Status
Last updated: June 21, 2022
The United States - through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) - is providing $5 million in urgent COVID-19 assistance for the West Bank and Gaza. It builds on the U.S. donation of 500,000 Moderna vaccines through COVAX to the Palestinian Authority to help in the fight against COVID-19 and the $25 million in assistance USAID provided to the West Bank and Gaza earlier in 2021. This assistance will improve access to safe and effective COVID-19 vaccinations, as well as reduce morbidity and mortality from COVID-19. The funds will also mitigate transmission and strengthen health systems in the region to prevent, detect, and respond to pandemic threats.
As of today, the United States has successfully donated and delivered 200 million COVID-19 vaccines to more than 100 countries around the world. President Biden has pledged that the U.S. will be the world’s arsenal of vaccines, and USAID continues to play a pivotal role in fulfilling the ambitious goal of vaccinating 70 percent of the eligible global population by next year. USAID, in coordination with the White House, other U.S. Government departments and agencies, and COVAX, the global vaccine access initiative, is helping get safe and effective shots in arms around the world.
USAID works in more than 120 countries and has provided over $9.3 billion toward the fight against COVID-19

The United States, in partnership with the COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access (COVAX) facility, delivered an additional 5,575,050 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to the Philippines as part of its worldwide effort to help end COVID-19.
Today, at the Global Citizen Live event, Administrator Samantha Power announced nearly $297 million in humanitarian assistance to provide urgently needed food assistance, health care, water, and psychosocial support to address urgent humanitarian needs around the world caused by the devastating COVID-19 pandemic.
