USAID is working side-by-side with partner countries and local organizations to build stronger infrastructure, expand access to clean energy, promote sustainable economies, improve natural resource management, and adapt to rising temperatures and more intense disasters. Since COP 26, USAID has worked with nearly 100 partner countries to meet the most urgent needs posed by the climate crisis, in alignment with the targets in USAID’s Climate Strategy.
U.S. Center at COP29
The U.S. Center is the location for showcasing U.S. climate leadership at COP29. The U.S. Center will feature a full schedule of events throughout the two weeks of COP29 and will feature a diversity of sectors, issue areas, perspectives, and experiences that are informing global action and the implementation of climate solutions. Events will be livestreamed and recorded.

Resilience at Scale: A New Paradigm for U.S. Government Infrastructure Investments
As part of the President’s Emergency Plan for Adaptation and Resilience (PREPARE), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), and Development Finance Corporation (DFC) are making a new commitment to integrating infrastructure systems resilience into their investments, which will be complemented by a new publicly available report of best practices and lessons learned to support broader implementation.
Catalyzing Green Investment in Africa: Power Africa + IMCA Launch Event
This event will announce an exciting USAID collaboration with Denmark, Finland, Sweden, and Norway to mobilize climate finance with Power Africa. The collaboration will leverage additional partner funds to advance energy access and improve clean energy supply chains; and will join an impactful, innovative international partnership to review and fund proposals for meaningful clean energy projects; and it will catalyze private-sector funding to advance the continent’s energy transition.
PREPARE Call to Action to the Private Sector
During this discussion, panelists will highlight progress made to date with the private sector in response to PREPARE’s Call to Action, explore the catalytic and innovative tools that have unlocked private sector-led adaptation funding and innovation in emerging markets including the Adaptation Finance Window, and opportunities to further scale adaptation solutions.
Just Transition Approaches: Centering Workers at Home and Abroad
The United States is committed to cutting emissions while bolstering job quality, equity, and worker empowerment. This session will highlight how the Presidential Memorandum on Advancing Worker Empowerment, Rights, and High Labor Standards Globally is providing opportunities for collaboration across the federal government and with partner governments to promote worker-centered approaches to the just transition worldwide, and its potential to bring lessons learned from the U.S. domestic experience to other countries.
From Glasgow to Baku: Three Years of Progress on Health and Climate Change
The United States is making significant progress on the commitments made in Glasgow on its decarbonization and resilience of its health sector, as well as support for global health sector resilience and transformation. This session will feature public and private health sector leaders outlining progress on heat and health sector sustainability and resilience as well as federal leaders describing international programming for health system resilience.
Accelerating Climate Resilience by Expanding Nature Solutions and Ecosystem Adaptation
This event showcases approaches across the U.S. government to address climate change, nature loss, and inequity through nature-based solutions. This session highlights partnerships with U.S. and international stakeholders to accelerate the accessibility and implementation of these locally led solutions to reduce risks and support climate adaptation. Join us as we discuss domestic action and international partnership to monitor, evaluate, learn from, and scale up these solutions in development, post-disaster, and in protracted crisis.
Leading the Change: Mobilizing Gender-Responsive Climate Action
The Women in the Sustainable Economy (WISE) initiative, a flagship effort of the U.S. government, aims to increase women’s access to jobs, training, leadership opportunities, and finance in the green and blue sectors. This event will show the incredible momentum the U.S. Government is creating with partners on gender and climate priorities and showcase the breadth of USAID’s gender-transformative work across climate sectors.

In FY 2023, USAID supported our partners to prevent 295 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions, help over 60 countries build resilience to climate impacts, conserve 82 million hectares of tropical rainforests, and mobilize $16.7 billion in climate finance.
