USAID supported agricultural learning exchange strengthens rural farmers’ production quality: USAID/Armenia’s Rural Economic Development - New Economic Opportunities project facilitated an educational tour for farmers from northern Tavush region who are considering starting wine and dried fruit production.  Fourteen farmers visited wineries, dried-fruit production facilities, an organic fig orchard, and Farm Service Centers in Armenia’s Syunik region in the south.  The facilities and farms the participants visited have small-to-medium size production capacities and were the beneficiaries of a previous USAID-funded “Advanced Rural Development Initiative” project.  The exchange opportunity provided the new producers with information on tools, technologies, resources, and motivation to help boost their farming productivity and advance the Government of Armenia’s goals of developing rural agriculture through increased production of quality goods that are competitive in a global economy.
