TIRANA, APRIL 29, 2011     Today, USAID’s Rritje Albania Program, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports, and the Albanian Tourism Association (ATA), launched a new program to support Albania’s growing tourism industry.  The Authentic Albania quality mark awards program supports enterprises in Albania’s tourism industry by establishing quality hotel standards and building opportunities for tourism businesses.  The program will be the country’s first system that rates accommodation facilities in Albania.

TIRANA, APRIL 22, 2011     Today, USAID’s Albanian Justice Sector Strengthening Project (JuST) signed an agreement with the Durres District Court and the Albanian Foundation for Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation of Disputes (AFCR) to support and expand its mediation program in Durres as an alternative to the resolution of disputes by the courts.

TIRANA, APRIL 14, 2011     The Ministry of Tourism and the Foreign Investors Association of Albania (FIAA) are sponsoring the second annual conference and exhibition on tourism and real estate development in Albania, the “TREALBEXPO 2011.”  The objective of the event is to highlight the importance of tourism to Albania’s economy and to attract more foreign investment into Albania’s tourism sector.  Participants included foreign investment companies, Albanian businesses, government agency representatives, and donors involved in tourism and real estate development.

TIRANA, APRIL 8, 2011     Today, USAID organized a conference to announce the start-up of a new health reform project in Albania.  The U.S. Ambassador to Albania, Alexander Arvizu, Albania’s Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, and the Minister of Health, Petrit Vasili, delivered remarks at the opening of the conference.  USAID Enabling Equitable Health Reforms (EEHR) project is a five-year initiative that will increase access to essential health services for the poor and support national health policy reforms.
